Our Mission
The
UAA will promote Washington, DC as a dynamic international arts marketplace and as a fertile ground for artists, institutions,
businesses,
and agencies committed to supporting the arts and strengthening our
community’s artistic identity.
We
support, enrich, inspire and provide a pathway for artists of all
mediums in the Washington, DC area to gain exposure, recognition and
confidence by awarding them for their contributions to the metro area.
We
will vigorously defend and partner with local arts organizations to
preserve and sustain DC’s artistic legacy by serving as a link between
artists and existing arts programs.
UAA will:
* ADVOCATE for artists to pledge community service through the arts.
* CREATE programs that promote art education, literacy and participation
* CULTIVATE and secure exhibit & performance opportunities
* MENTOR & assist in professional development for students and emerging artists
*
PRODUCE BOFA DC (Best of Fine Arts DC), an annual gala/fundraiser
celebrating DC’creative legacy by honoring the accomplishments of DC’s
artists, arts advocates, businesses and organizations, who live, work,
and make outstanding creative and community focused contributions to
the arts throughout the Washington, DC metro region.
This
year, a net of the proceeds will go toward building support for exhibit
and performance opportunities, mentoring and professional development
for emerging artists of all disciplines and will aid and assist in the
development, visibility, and economic sustenance of professional artists.
